TASTING NOTES: A bold, full-bodied coffee with low acidity and medium sweetness. Dark chocolate and fruited notes in the flavour. A pleasant, sweet finish and with hints of orange in the aftertaste - especially as it cools.
Grown close to the shores of Lake Malawi in the vicinity of city of Mzuzu in northern Malawi, this coffee is produced by over 3000 small holder farmers of which 25% are women farmers. They are represented by the Mzuzu Coffee Planters Cooperative Union. The Union ensures the well-being of the farmers by providing access to better accommodation, food, and education for the farming community.
The coffee produced at attitude of between 1700 to 2000m above sea level. Phoka Hills (attitude 1300 -2500m), Viphya hills (1200 – 1500m), Nkhatabay highlands overlooking Lake Malawi (altitude 1000 -2000m), South East Mzimba on the south of Viphya plateau (altitude 1200 to 1700m) and Ntchisi East (altitude of 1200-1800m).
